"I can't escape myself
So many times I've lied
But there's still rage inside

Somebody help me through this nightmare

I can't control myself!"

--- "Animal I have become", Three Days Grace

In the Early 2000s, the Garou Nations were a prominent presence in the outskirts and bayous of New Orleans.  While the Clans of Caine held the City proper, the outlying wilderness was the territory of the Wolf tribes.  Many Garou chose the path of non-intervention.  For they had, according to them, more important things to worry about.

It is known, that Garou are the Fang and Claws of Gaia.  As such, they believe it is their duty to protect her from the destruction caused by human innovation.  Their focus to this extent was in the preservation of the natural world, outside of the Urban cities.  They most often attacked construction sites of corporations, and other supernatural beings, most often being Vampires, which they consider to be Children of the Wyrm, who cross into their territories.  However, their numbers were not as great as the Clans of Caine.

At some point, Many of the Garou were forced to flee, performing a ritual that helped to move their caern deeper into the wildlands away from the ever expanding urban development projects of the Corporations that were forming within the city.  As such, the Garou sought the aid of other Fera, as well as the Cathayans and Changeling Peoples to find their new home.  As such, agreements were struck between the Garou and Changelings, as they were relocated deep within the Changeling Territories.  Though they were far from the reach of the Mortals, and that of the Vampires for that matter, the Garou found themselves facing a new threat:  each other.

Many of the Garou tribes, believed that leaving the Children of the Wyrm unchecked would only strengthen the Wyrm's influence.  Others, believed that they could better focus on combatting the Wyrm being closer to Gaia.  Many young Garou, found themselves without guidance, due to the constant in-fighting of the Elders.  Curious ones, found their way back to New Orleans, where new Garou and Kinfolk had begun to come into themselves, and their powers.  However, these new one soon found themselves facing the same issues.  Newly changed and unguided, these Garou lashed out at others within the city, breaking many of the Laws of the Litany.  This brought unnecessary attention to the Garou once again, as they were forced to cull their own numbers, and intervene in the affairs of man, for no other purpose than to mitigate the damage done by their pups.

By the time the Corporate wars started, the Garou tribes of New Orleans were a fractured alliance, held together by the thinnest of rope: a common enemy in the rising Megacorporations.  However, it wasn't until the Sundering, where the skies turned red, and the moon was eclipsed that they felt the far reaching devastation brought on by Corporate Colonialism.  Many of them took this as a sign, the end times were upon them.

In 2077, the Garou find themselves as Nomads, terrorizing Corporate Envoys and construction sites from within the city.  The Wilderness they had sought to protect was all but destroyed in the Corporate wars, leaving much of the world barren and many native species of fauna and flora extinct.  The badlands outside of the city has become home to many Bane spirits, now able to cross the umbra with little effort.  It is a war on two fronts with the enemy far outnumbering the Garou.  It is the beginning of the end... unless they can stop it.

::: Things to Know About Werewolves in 2077 :::

  • Werewolves born, not turned.

    • Werewolves must be born to be a werewolf. There is no curse that creates werewolves.

      • Werewolves can be born as Wolves, or as humans. (See "The Breeds.")

  • The Word "Garou" is not commonly known by other supernatural.

    • This is what most Werewolves call themselves.  Other supernaturals and mortals would not know this word unless it was told to them.

  • Werewolf vs Vampire Blood wars are -not- a prominent part of Garou history.

    • Werewolves do not like vampires commonly, true, but there was no major war, involving vampires enslaving Werewolves en masse.

    • That lore is unique to Underworld, not World of Darkness.

  • Kinfolk are -not- just breeding stock.

    • In the Lore, it does state that Werewolves are forbidden to breed with other werewolves, however, that does not mean Kinfolk are simply tools for making more Werewolf babies.

    • Kinfolk players are -players- as well. Unless this is the dynamic the individual player -chooses- to roleplay out, they are entitled to their stories as much as the next player.

  • In 2077, Werewolves are commonly Nomads, but it is not their only role.

    • The Roleplay environment here is meant to be very harrowing for the Garou due to their beliefs.

    • Though most Werewolves run in packs, they are not -required- to do so.
