Mortals : Humanity of 2077

"I'm living in that 21st century, doin' somethin' mean to it
Do it better than anybody you ever seen do it
screens from the 80s, got a nice ring to it
i guess every super hero need his theme music

no one man should have all that power
the clock's tickin' i just count the hours
Stop trippin' i'm trippin' off the power
(21st-century schizoid man)"
--- Kanye West, "power"
These are not the Mortals you remember.
No longer are Mortals simply live stock, and defenseless against the predators that lurk among them. With the Sundering of the Veil, the mortal races have become well aware that there are threats in the world greater than themselves. They know that their fairy tales and fictions are not all Make-believe, and they themselves have armed themselves not to fight back just against the Megacorporations, but from something worse.

Vampires, Werewolves, Cathayans, and other creatures still torment the Mortal population. The invent of Cyberware does not negate need to hunt for these creatures, though if they aren't careful they may find a pair of mantis blades in their guts. Cyberware has evolved and allowed the Mortal races to emulate their predators; which in most cases, turned the hunters, into the Hunted. There is much to be said about Mortals on the following pages, but one thing to remember when playing a mortal is this: If it bleeds, you can kill it.

: THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT MORTALS in 2077 :

-
All Mortals are just that. Mortal.
-
Regardless of what powers they have, Mortals still require food, drink, and medical attention. They still get sick, and will likely die if not treated properly.
-
Oh, and Mortal still age normally (in most cases).
-

-
The Veil is Broken.
-
The invisible force that normally tries to rationalize the sight of supernatural entities and activities is all but destroyed.
-
Mortals are AWARE that supernatural creatures exist, but they have no way to tell who is what, until they reveal themselves.
-
Cyberware does NOT help in identifying Superantural Creatures.
-
-

-
Supernatural Mortals are More tolerated than Non-human Entities.
-
What the mortal races fear most is the fact that their dominance of the planet is under threat.
-
Mortals are no longer the pinnacle of Evolution as they thought.
-
Megacorporations are more likely to hire a Supernatural Mortal than to place them on a dissection table.
-
The ones that are not Hired by Megacorpotations are likely to become Hunters.
-
-

-
Cyberware affects Humanity, and Supernatural Abilities.
-
Magic and technology doesn't always mix well.
-
Supernatural Mortals often sacrifice their abilities for Cyberware.
-

-
Mortals can be turned into Vampires, even with Cyberware.
-
This is likely one of the most unique things about Mortals.
-
Cyberware does affect Supernatural abilities, but your Cyberware will still function to an extent if a mortal is embraced.
-
The likelihood of Cyberpsychosis also raises dramatically, so be warned.
-
-

-
Half-Damned are Still Mortal!
-
Dhampir, Kinfolk, Ghouls are still mortal despite the powers they have contracted.
-
This means that these races are still able to utilize Cyberware, and other mortal benefits, but like with everything in the world, it comes at a price.
