Who needs known danger when you can have danger that you will never remember? That is the way of the Isle of Purgatory!
The Isle of Purgatory is known as one of the mysterious Hedge Isles. There are nearly 20 Hedge Isle, but the one attached to the power of the Basilica Achlys is the Isle of Purgatory.
In the year 2222 CE The Ghost Islands, or Hedge Isle all became stabilized and rooted to where they were at that time in the world, none of these Islands are in the same place they originated. The Isle of Purgatory originally came from the East Coast and ended up in the Southwest portion of the world of the formerly known United States.
Districts of Purgatory
56 years after its stabilization, the Isle of Purgatory has gathered its bearings in culture and purpose in the greater world. As it is considered its own city with the Basilica, the residents of the Isle are known as residents of Lotos City, the only city within the Island. As such, the laws of the city do not immediately apply to the island. However, the city is run by Carnival, the organization that cultivates the island for its tourist purposes and natural preservation as a historical resource. As such, in many ways, the system of justice within the island while on the surface more laid back, is also by far quicker in execution.
Port Styx
Port Styx is the name of the main port anchored to Tartaros Bay This is the main way in which all supplies and waterborne visitors come to the island. Port Styx is known for its fishing and industrial ties to the mainland. The sewer systems and water purification for the island is also attached to the Docks. While it’s not fully a tourist space, there is still an air of presentation for all the visitors and residents of the Island.
The forest area of the Port is known for their lushness and natural appeal. Typically seen as the ‘safer’ part of the forested area, it is not uncommon for tourists to take picnics on the stoney beaches and to take a quiet moment in the woods.
Carnival of Fates
The Carnival itself and its subsequent upper level of tourism is the highlight for most Island and the highest area of revenue for Lotos City. This space contains the Railway, the high end Hotel Tartarus and the Carnival itself. These areas are still part of Lotos city, but are also the Tourist district for all, and as such has very limited residential space.
The highest portion of the area is known as Fate Square and is the party center of the Island. The Burlesque Club, Release the Kraken, The Artist center and Coffeehouse, - , the Celtic Pub of Fae legend and Lore ,Murphy’s Pub, and the rocker’s delight and home of the band Goodfellows, Pandemonium, all make their home in the square. These make the adult center a place of dreams and sins for a celebratory place that calls to the primal at heart.
Lotos City
The main portion of the city does have a tourist flair, even if it follows a quainter look overall. This is the day to day life portion of the city where most of the residents live and dwell. This does include the elusive underground community of the Crypt, which is the perfect home for all those that live a gothic, forever lifestyle. The Ivory Gates in turn provides the perfect sky view of the town in their cozy apartments.
Typically all those that live on the Island also conduct the majority of their business on the Island and contribute to the preservation of the wildlife within the island. This makes the community fairly tight knit and either on good terms with the Carnival organization, or members of it.
Mangrove Forest of Nemea
There are a few scattered homes nestled in the forest of Nemea. However, these are considered reflections of the badlands as they are seen outside the Basilica. These are known as very dangerous territory where the creatures within are monitored and preserved for research and ecosystem balance.
Those that choose to dwell within the forest each sign waivers to live on the natural land and are away from the perilous conditions of their environment.
