The Lost : Children Without a Place

Once again I lie and wait here
Time to play our little game
If I find you then it's fate, dear
Just me winning once again

And now I can hear you breathing
And now I can smell your fear
I can't wait now 'cause I'm seething
I'll make you my souvenir
--- Oomph!, "Ready or not"
What happens when a dream dies?
Nothing happens. It merely ceases to be remembered.
The last gasp of Faerie, the reality known as the Dreaming did not go out in a fiery glory. There were no screams. There was no terror. It simply was silenced into nothingness. It was the birth of the Cybertech revolution, when banality was so heavy in the world that it suffocated it in dread, fatigue, and nihilism that the Dreaming shut itself off from the world, losing itself into the Everwinter. And just like that, dreams were gone from the world.
Humanity couldn’t dream or create a new by the end, the power was gone from them. The quiet of the Everwinter soaked into the psychosis of the world. Malkavians were sane, having lost the hallucinations of their mind creating tricks upon themselves and all they saw was the truth, the cold bitter truth of the end of the world and Gehenna, and there were no Dreams left to spare them. There were no Dreams to spare anyone. Even those that lived with the souls of dreams within them died all at once to the cold embrace of the Everwinter.
And then Humanity was no more.
It was the Weaver that broke the spell of nothingness upon the Dreaming, calling upon the Wyrd to save them from their own deeds, to save a world, to give Dreams and Hope back. And the Wyrd listened. Through its first children, the Tuatha came the new breath of creativity to the world and with it, humanity’s return. To those in the Dreaming, all the Humans Lost in the Dreams, life stopped and then it just began again.
Upon the first touch of the Everwinter, each lost ceased to remember…
There is a time in their memory of living in the Dreaming, where their Keepers rule all and life was as hazy with fun as it was terror, that literally stops. It’s an empty Void, a permanent touch of Banality nailed to their chest that cannot be removed. No Lost remembers what led to the nothingness, but they all know it happened. There was a point in time that nothing stirred, and they were effectively not in existence. There are those they remember that are no more, those poor dreams that were outside of the Dreaming in the world of mortals when time stopped. Those poor souls all ceased to exist, and the Dreams within remember the moment they were all gone forever.
But within Arcadia, the Dreams continued.
The moment the Gates of the Dreaming opened back and Dreams flooded out like a fountain, every Lost remembered at once that they were alive and that they could all die. They remembered their dead brethren. They remembered their life before, they remembered and they dreamed, and they continued on.
Welcome to Requiem by Night, Little Lost.
The Lost are the fae types within the Requiem by Night sim. You are the Humans taken into the Dreaming itself, enslaved to a Wyrdborne, the True Fae of the world and now their Keepers, and forever physically changed by the Dreams. Their Humanity becomes the Dream all Lost strive to hold onto for in forgetting it, the Lost forgets themselves and returns to that cold, empty nothingness.
The world they knew no longer knows them. Their body is replaced by an imitation the world adores, a better version of themselves. The Lost do not belong to the Dreaming. They do not belong to Humanity. They are a group without a place, forever bound to a Dream that they never will understand.
Seeming of Lost
There are six types of Seemings for the Lost that dwell within the area around the Basilica Achlys, where our story takes place. Seemings are the forms the Dreams of the Hedges and the True Fae have remade the Lost into. When choosing to be a Lost, select one of the following Seemings for immediate roleplay into the sim.
-
Beast, Those that Survive the Jungle Wilds
-
Darklings, They Who Creep in Shadows
-
Elementals, Those that are Prized and Adored
-
Fairest, Those of Wicked Hearts and Wicked Minds
-
Ogres, They who Become the Monsters
-
Wizened, They who Live for the Task
For those wishing to play a Dreamborne Fae, please reach out to the Mentors for access to the Rare Application. The mentors will help you work your character concept into one that will work within the lore we have set out. Rare applications hold no guarantee of Approval, but are approved in how well the concept of the character works to build roleplay for the sim and builds upon the Lore that we have set up. Please note that this is not the World of Darkness many know and love, but a homebrewed world crafted among people with a deep love and appreciation of all the various settings of WoD. Because we are homebrewed, we will not accept any transfers of characters from more Modern WoD based roleplays and sims.
